Bio

I love the process of composing a photographic composition that includes color, texture, line, the design elements necessary to create a work of art. In the past, my photo's served as an inspiration for my paintings, now I create colorful photographs that look like paintings. Sometimes, photography is about documenting reality; my goal is to document the abstraction in reality.  I want the viewer to discover the object within the photo and to enjoy seeing the natural world from an unusual perspective. My special  edition photographs are digitally  printed with archival inks onto  watercolor paper. This technology  allows me to enlarge my photographs significantly, while not losing the detail from the original 35MM negative. Also, with this process the image can be printed onto the different mediums resulting in a photo that better captures the subject. I am often asked if I changed the colors or added to the photograph. I do the best job I can to represent the subject the way I discovered it, in all its natural glory. Over the past twenty years I have been working on three photographic projects.  The first is "Pickup Art". This group of photographs includes vintage trucks that have been put out to pasture. When I look at an old truck, I see a fossil. I have been called the Pickup Artist because of my ability to photographically capture the past life and hidden beauty in old pickup trucks.  The second project is called "Seeing Faith". The images in this group are spiritual in nature, expressions of faith and symbols of hope that surround us. The photographs may be of a cross, a statue, a flower or a sacred place. The "Seeing Faith" images are sometimes combined with found objects and paint to create personal altars or blessings.  The third group of photographs is titled "New Mexico Spirit". They are about the heart and soul of New Mexico.
