Aspens in Snow

Aspens in  the snow is a pigment print from a watercolor painting using encaustic wax.  I apply silver leaf and watercolor paint to the image. The painting was inspired by a photograph I took in October up in the Santa Fe Aspen forest. The leaves were still on the trees and an early snow storm covered the aspen trees.

This painting reminds me of the changing of seasons, the energy of the wind, the snow falling off the branches  as one season abruptly crashes into the other.

Sometimes in life we are not ready to let go and move on to another season in life. Although, once we  accept the change there is usually something beautiful to behold.
